Brief and Scope:

To gain space for a growing family by extending downwards and creating a versatile and creative playroom with scope to be adult friendly as well, a restful guest room with luxurious en-suite, a highly functional utility room, separate W/C and hallway storage. Designed to marry with the scheme and style upstairs, with particular attention paid to creating a lighting scheme that focuses on keeping areas brightly and cleanly lit.

The new playroom will become a haven for the children, with a range of activity ‘stations’ for reading, craft and play. Whimsical storage and accessories will make the room exciting as well as functional, removing any clutter from the rest of the house. A fun nerf gun target will extend the room into the outside space, where there will also be a hose and drain to rinse artworks, sticky toys or indeed, sticky children. The room will also be able to double as a spacious cinema space once the children are a little older.

The guest room will be a contemporary design, which is still sympathetic to the period detailing within the property. Light tones and soft textures will make the space cosy and be relaxing for visitors, with a few brighter key pieces bringing some interest and focus to balance the scheme.

The luxurious en-suite will house a slipper bath and hand painted artisan tiles. Clean white and chrome wares will keep the room modern and fresh, but allow it to both retain its character and provide the wow factor.

Elsewhere in the basement, the W/C will be decked out in complimentary tones in keeping with the other bathrooms throughout the property, and the discreet utility room will house ample storage and drying facilities, as well as an especially large butler sink and spray tap – ideal for muddy sportswear and gear.

Further storage, ideally for linens and winterwear will be installed in the hallway. This can also be customised to house bikes or any other more specific items.
