Bilateral Conversion N1- Renovation - / Islington
- Living Space: 1600 ft²
- Bedrooms: 3
- Bathrooms: 2
Brief & Scope:
A full refurbishment of a 1970s bilateral conversion of a listed building in fashionable Islington. The floor plan was altered in this Islington Interior Design to make space for a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom flat with a large open plan kitchen, living and dining room. A gentle, warm colour palette was used throughout, with splashes of modern art and bright furnishings.
Storage was a concern for the clients so we made the most of the exceptionally high ceilings by placing multiple tall wall units throughout the house and converting a small bedroom into a luxurious dressing room.
The island unit in the kitchen creates a feeling of space and flow, whilst providing ample countertop space and concealing several white goods and kitchen appliances. The harder metal surfaces with the flat wood blend nicely with the ornate cornicing and settle the more modern trimmings within the house, avoiding that stark contrast that so often happens when modern furniture goes into period properties.
