Hampstead Cottage, NW3

- Renovation - / Hampstead
  • Living Space: = 844ft²
  • Bedrooms: 2 -> 1
  • Bathrooms: 1.5 + Utility space

Brief and Scope:

To remodel a detached cottage in the heart of Hampstead, changing from a tight 2 bed to a generous 1 bed.
The upstairs will be reconstructed to provide 1 large bedroom, dressing area and generous bathroom, as well as a utility space. The bathroom will be easy to maintain with specified storage matched the discussed requirements.
The current ceiling will be lifted, new and improved insulation added, beams exposed and, council approval allowing, multiple skylights will be installed. Ideally, electric blackout blinds will provide a calming and restful space for the dogs at the touch of a button.

Downstairs there is the potential to add contemporary large glass panes to both the sitting room and kitchen walls leading to the patio. An investigation into the strange block in the patio will take place, hopefully resulting in some extra space. Rustic beams will be added and considered planting will create a lovely urban garden space with seating, as well as a stunning vista from inside the house.

Various comfy, adjustable, seating areas that appeal to lounging both with and without the dogs will be creating in the lounge. Hardwearing furniture will be a must. A discreet TV will be easily accessible but also able to be hidden away.

A more appropriate country style kitchen will replace the existing, complete with all the mod cons and ample storage. The is the possibility of replacing the current kitchen skylight with flat, walk-on panes which will extend the useable space on the terrace, and be a warm haven for the dogs to lie on.

Underfloor heating and a calming, neutral colour palette throughout will create a warm, inviting home. A new security system will be installed.
