First Look at our Glamorous Kensington Project

We’ve hit design freeze on our stunning new Kensington project. The multi-levelled 3 bedrooms, 2 bathroom flat is having a glamorous spruce up and is being fully furnished for its cosmopolitan new occupants.

The flat is located over the 3rd, 4th and 5th floors of a converted townhouse in London. The kitchen/living area has fantastic views over the South West portion of the city and the sun-trap terrace has a leafy view of Brompton Cemetary (very quiet neighbours…). Currently, the decor is quite dated, with some ill thought out storage, and lack of original architectural features.

The main goal is to inject a feeling of ‘home’ for the family, providing a space that is beautifully decorated and ready to move into. The current storage will be rejigged to better suit the client’s lifestyle. The tight entrance space will provide a stylish welcome to the flat, the small bedroom beyond will become an inviting vista and sometimes bedroom. The stairwells and hallways will benefit from a bold colour scheme that will better suit the current warm wood flooring and highlight the impressive gallery space with selected artwork. The Master Bedroom layout will remain largely the same, but the built-in storage will be refreshed and made to look sleek and modern. Additional storage will be provided in the bathroom. The 3rd bedroom will be a haven for the 3 boys with trundle bedding provided to maximise floor space. The wardrobe internals here are perfectly viable, but the sliding doors will either need to be put on new tracks or replaced.

As the kitchen is exceptionally large for the size of the property, some storage units will be sacrificed for a bench-style dining table inclusion which will still allow a sociable eating space for the family whilst freeing up a large portion of the living room for flexible relaxing time.

The inspiration provided by the client is fun and vibrant with lots of deeply coloured rich velvet tones and highly polished metals combined with warm wood tones and dark paint. Moody abstract art and objects of interest will be included to give the design the same layered, curated look. Luxurious textiles will be used throughout to make space feel warm and inviting and homely. We’ll be using a lot of pieces from Swoon Editions and West Elm, mixed with designer wallpapers from Cole and Sons to create those seductive spaces.
