Hello everyone! My name is Becky and I’m a contributor at Houzz, a home design site focused on helping design professionals and homeowners manage the remodeling and decorating process. Thanks so much to Kia for having me!
I’ve been having a great time looking through Kia’s blog and checking out her impeccable taste, which really put the pressure on to find a house that I think she’d like! This home, designed by John Maniscalco Architecture, is a beautiful snowy woodland roost near Lake Tahoe in California. The architecture and decor are minimalist and contemporary yet warm and comfortable, and both take full advantage of the home’s breathtaking surroundings.
Simple geometry gives the exterior a presence that nestles into the surrounding forest. A bent planar roof tops off its bold and simple lines.
Oversized windows take advantage of the views, and a dramatic glass light fixture from Bocci throws some curves that contrast with the rectilinear architecture and details.
While the lines of the furniture are predominantly clean and crisp, the upholstery, throws, blankets, Hans Wegner Folding Rope Chairs and an Arctic Pear Chandelier from Ochre add soft textures and soft light. It makes me dream of winter even as I write this on a beautiful spring day!
