This spacious family home in arty Swiss Cottage provides a seasonal retreat for some homesick ex-pats. The internal layout was almost completely refigured to provide the family with the sense of space, light and openness they had become accustomed to in South East Asia. The clients were very drawn to bold colours for their Swiss Cottage Interior Design, and we went for shades of purple, yellow and green paired with subtle shades of brown and stark white. The bespoke rugs lend a soft, warm tone to the rooms and were inspired by the shades and movement of marble. The curtains are all in the same shade as the wall, a design trick to provide a strong monochromatic base to really make the accessories and furnishings stand out.
The Scandinavian inspired kitchen and dining room make the most of the available natural light, and stylish Porada furniture adds a modernist edge. The offset butler’s pantry and utility room help keep the kitchen clutter free and maintain its minimalist design. The minimalist theme continues in the galleried stairway and halls, pairing the cool wood tones with sharp, crisp white walls and no decoration.
