Every week, we receive emails from prospective interns eager to delve into the world of interior design. These applicants range from students seeking holiday experiences to recent graduates scouting for internships that could lead to permanent positions. Some even aspire to transition into a new career or wish to gain insights from different design perspectives, such as architects exploring alternative spatial approaches.

Internship Opportunities

We typically accommodate two interns simultaneously for placements lasting 6-12 months. Our internships at Kia are paid, except when visa restrictions intervene. While we accept summer interns, the short duration limits comprehensive learning, requiring a month just to familiarize yourself with our operations. Our projects span a minimum of 3 months, often extending to 6 months, ensuring interns witness the full project lifecycle.

Immersive Learning Environment

Internships at Kia Designs provide multifaceted learning experiences, covering business operations, practical design, client interactions, and project management. Under Kia’s guidance, interns assume significant responsibilities, including designing spaces, sourcing materials, and styling rooms.

Studio Environment

At our Tower Bridge studio, interns are integral team members, actively contributing beyond mundane tasks like making coffees. We seek individuals with prior office experience and proficiency in software like Excel or Numbers. Familiarity with interior design terminology is essential, along with the ability to take initiative and work independently.

Application Guidelines

If you’re eager to apply, here are some crucial pointers to ensure your CV stands out:

• Address your email/cover letter to Kia, Mrs. Stanford, or Madam. You can see by the email address you are emailing her personally, and it’s really unimpressive if you put ‘Sir’ or ‘Sir/Madam.’
• Avoid CC’ing multiple companies, as it suggests a lack of genuine interest. This seems like an obvious one, but you would be surprised just how many people do it.
• Prioritise correct spelling, grammar, and professional language, as effective communication is vital. You’ll be communicating directly with our clients and suppliers, so it’s important you can express yourself in a professional and clear way. Also, if you haven’t bothered to proof read your own CV, you don’t look like a diligent prospect.
• Clearly state any scheduling constraints.
• Omit personal details like date of birth or marital status, as they’re irrelevant to the application process.
