What Is An Interior Design Survey?
An interior design survey involves measuring and photographing a site to tailor a design scheme specifically to that property. During this process, we measure walls, doors, radiators, windows, and other fixtures crucial for creating a design that suits the space. These measurements are then input into CAD software to create a scale floor plan, detailing wall thicknesses, door openings, and ceiling heights. A site survey unveils hidden architectural elements often overlooked in flats.
Recent Survey Findings
Armed with tape measures and laser tools, we ventured to a new property in Waterloo. The flat revealed unexpected architectural nuances, some advantageous, others challenging. Examining the corridor, we noticed two significant factors: Firstly, the corridor’s size starkly contrasted with other rooms, a consideration for the new floor plan. Secondly, the kitchen’s misalignment with the corridor, hindered by an electrical storage box encroaching nearly a foot into its space. Addressing this challenge requires careful planning in the proposed floor plan.

Survey Insights and Challenges
The kitchen presents another intriguing obstacle; ducting for extraction and installed spotlights have dropped the ceiling by over a foot. This issue necessitates rectification to transform the cavernous kitchen into a stunning open-plan space.
In contrast, the living room window offers a welcome respite. It entices with the prospect of a relaxing seating area, granting clients a picturesque view of the Royal Festival Hall. Additionally, mirrors will be strategically used to capture and amplify light in this space.
