The brief

A beautiful home for a professional couple, made for modern living and for working from home. The views across London were the starting point.

Modern, with personality: natural finishes, a mix of textures that feels cosy without clutter, and art and lighting doing a lot of the work.

What we changed

Working from home

The second bedroom became a studio for work and yoga, with a corner window onto the view. The third works as an office that can still take guests.

Living and dining

The hub of the home and where most of the budget went, set up for entertaining against floor-to-ceiling windows.

Flow

One consistent scheme from room to room, which mattered most in the long hallway that runs the length of the penthouse.

Art and lighting

Art chosen as an investment, and lighting planned room by room to bring out warm colours and texture.

Angel interior design: what to plan for

Most of our work around Angel is in new-build apartments and Georgian terraces. In the new towers, the managing agent sets the rules on working hours, deliveries and lift bookings; on the older streets, conservation areas come first. We plan for all of this from the first meeting, so it doesn't hold up the job.

We've been designing London homes for 18 years. In that time, our bathrooms and kitchens have won national awards. The first conversation is free, and we can usually meet within a few days.
