The brief

Bold, warm and nothing like a show flat. The building has a strong maritime story, and the clients wanted a home that leaned into it, with colour to answer London's grey skies.

At under 1,100 sq ft, every piece had to earn its place. Storage and furniture that does two jobs mattered as much as the look.

What we changed

Colour

A coral sofa, mustard armchairs and a red tufted headboard, set against darker walls and brass.

Copper and brass

Copper and warm metal run through the flat, from the dining table to the light fittings, tying it back to the building's maritime past.

Storage

A slatted shelving unit divides the living space without closing it off, and storage is built in wherever the footprint allows.

Lighting

Statement pendants and a glass chandelier, layered with wall lights and lamps, so the flat glows in the evening.

Greenwich interior design: what to plan for

Most of our Greenwich work is in new riverside towers and period houses around the park. In the towers, the managing agent sets the rules on working hours, deliveries and lift bookings, and anything larger than a sofa has to fit the lift. Near the park, conservation areas and listed buildings come first. We plan for all of this from the first meeting, so it doesn't hold up the job.

We've been designing London homes for 18 years. In that time, our bathrooms and kitchens have won national awards. The first conversation is free, and we can usually meet within a few days.
