Location: Maida Vale
Status: Finished
Service: Interior Design
Property: Mansion block apartment
Maida Vale is known for its red-brick mansion flats with tall ceilings and generous rooms. St John's Wood has larger villas and detached houses. Both reward a designer who works with the architecture rather than against it.
What we do in Maida Vale and St John's Wood
Kia Designs is an award-winning residential interior design studio at London Bridge, with more than 200 completed projects across London.
- Mansion flat redesigns: better kitchens, bathrooms and storage in period apartments.
- Whole-house refurbishments: villas and larger houses updated room by room or all at once.
- Light-touch refreshes: keeping what works, updating what doesn’t, to a clear budget.
- Interior design: furniture, lighting, fabrics, art and styling.
Planning and building rules
Both areas fall largely under Westminster, with conservation areas covering many streets. Mansion blocks have their own approvals for works. We plan for these from the first survey so the programme holds.

We also design homes in Marylebone and Fitzrovia, Hampstead and Notting Hill. See our services and pricing, or tell us about your home and we’ll tell you how we’d approach it.
A recent Maida Vale project
In our Maida Vale Mansion Apartment, the brief was comfort, not a full rebuild. We planned a lounge built for relaxing and a dining area seating six to eight, with two extra seats at the bar. We turned the spare room into a flexible guest room with proper storage, and refreshed the existing wardrobes rather than replacing them. Layered lighting and new window dressings tied it together, and we designed displays for the clients’ own art.
