The brief

Small, but full of potential. The clients fell in love with the cottage's light and character, but it needed a clear plan to feel spacious without losing its charm.

We took it from two bedrooms down to one, so the remaining rooms could breathe, and planned every inch of storage.

What we changed

Vaulted ceiling

Better insulation let us raise the bedroom from a flat ceiling to a vaulted one, which completely changed the room.

Kitchen

A white kitchen with a blue range cooker, built-in wine storage and a pantry.

Bathrooms

A bathroom with a green bath, another in marble, and a cloakroom with map wallpaper.

Outside

A planted patio with seating, so the garden works as another room.

Hampstead Village interior design: what to plan for

Most homes in Hampstead Village are period houses and cottages in a Camden conservation area, and some are listed. Small homes need every detail planned, from storage to ceiling heights, and changes to roofs or windows usually need consent.
