Bespoke Rugs Inspired By Local Nature

When we are designing bespoke rugs for our clients we like to make sure that they are something as individual as their home. Bespoke rugs are a beautiful way to bring a unique flair to any home. This rug for the entrance hall of a manor house needed something that drew guests into the house and welcomed them to the beautiful home. They are custom-made and designed to match any style or décor. Not only do they add elegance and sophistication, but they also provide a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The designs for the walls had all been designed in-house and painted on silk wall coverings in China before being shipped over to the UK to be installed by one of our excellent teams.

In order to create hand-tufted rugs, artisans loop yarn through a fabric backing and secure the loops with a tufting gun, resulting in a beautifully intricate and long-lasting design. Hand-tufted rugs are a type of rug made by looping yarn through a fabric backing to create an intricate, durable design. The loops of yarn are then secured in place by tufting – pushing them through to the back of the rug with a tufting gun. This creates a plush and luxurious feel, perfect for adding warmth and texture to any room.  These hand-tufted rugs are made from wool, which is a durable and natural material, making them hard-wearing and long-lasting and silk which adds a touch of luxury to this design. Hand-tufted rugs are a great way to add a touch of texture and elegance to any room, and their timeless beauty ensures they will stay in style for years to come.

Having recently had the flooring refinished and varnished had also given this area a new lease of life. One that we wanted to harness and build on by creating a rug design that almost flew off the floor.
The designs are inspired by the wallpaper in this area and will pull together all the colours and decorative elements in the space. The butterflies are the yellow swallowtail, the clouded yellow and the brimstone – these are all Cornish butterflies you might find in the gardens. I would suggest hand-tufted in this are with the base in 100% and the motif in 100% silk. We could also do the flowers in pinks and lilacs.

Cornwall is home to a variety of beautiful butterflies. The most common butterfly species spotted in Cornwall is the Small/Large White, Meadow Brown, and the Gatekeeper. The Small/Large White is a distant relative of the cabbage butterfly and is one of the most common butterflies in Europe. These butterflies are white with black spots on their wings and are found in open fields and gardens. The Meadow Brown is a beautiful orange-brown butterfly with a patterned wing and is found in grassy meadows and pasture land. The Gatekeeper is a medium-sized butterfly that is brown and orange in colour and is found in hedgerows and grassy areas. Cornwall is also home to other rarer species such as the Red Admiral, Brimstone, Peacock, and the rare Silver-studded Blue. We selected the Brimstone for its rarity as this project and design is also a rare find. These butterflies can be seen in the summer months fluttering through the air and feeding on nectar from wildflowers. Cornwall is a great place to observe these beautiful creatures, so take a trip and see them in all their glory!

We came up with two designs for the rug. Both are based on the original hand-painted silk wallpaper design we created. Hand-painted silk wallpaper is a luxurious, high-end decoration option that can add a unique, classic touch to any room. The fabric is made of 100% pure silk, which is light and breathable yet strong and durable. It is then hand painted in a variety of colors and patterns, giving each piece its own unique style for this area we opted to have it adore the walls like hanging plants from the ceilling. Hand-painted silk wallpaper can make any room look more luxurious, sophisticated, and timeless. It can be used to create a focal point in a room, or it can be used to create a subtle, unique background.

 

This was all part of a Luxury interior design project, the perfect way to create a space that reflects your individual style and taste. It is all about creating a sense of opulence, sophistication, and elegance. Designers often incorporate high-end materials such as marble, silk, velvet, and leather to achieve a luxurious aesthetic.
